Data Handling Principles
This is a personal portfolio and engineering blog. I treat visitor privacy the way I design production systems: collect only what is needed, keep it only as long as it is needed, and be explicit about every third party involved.
There are no user accounts, comments, or paid features on this site, and I do not sell visitor data or run advertising pixels. The only data involved is anonymous usage analytics, standard technical server logs, and the messages you choose to send me, all described below.
Information You Send Me
If you contact me through the contact page or by email, I receive the details you provide: your name, your email address, and your message, plus a phone number if a form asks for one and you choose to share it. I use this only to reply to your enquiry and to keep a record of the conversation.
Messages are delivered to my inbox by email, so copies may remain in my mailbox and in the email systems used to deliver them. I do not add contact details to marketing lists or share them with third parties. I keep them only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for reasonable record-keeping, and you can ask me to delete them at any time.
Your Data Stays With Me
Anything you send is used to answer you and nothing else. Please do not include passwords, API keys, or other secrets in a contact message. If you need to share something sensitive, ask me for a safer channel first.
Third-Party Services
This site does not deploy advertising pixels, social-media trackers, or fingerprinting scripts. These are the services that touch visitor requests:
| Service | Purpose | Data involved | Provider policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Aggregate traffic and page-performance statistics | Pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referrer, first-party analytics cookies | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google Fonts | Serves the site’s typefaces (Inter, Plus Jakarta Sans, JetBrains Mono) | IP address and browser details are sent to Google when fonts load | Google Fonts privacy |
Analytics data is aggregated and used only to understand which content is useful. It is not combined with the messages you send me.
Security & Responsible Disclosure
The site is served over HTTPS and I take reasonable steps to keep it secure. If you spot a security issue, I would like to hear about it. Please email me the affected URL and steps to reproduce, and give me a reasonable chance to fix it before disclosing it publicly. Good-faith reports are always acknowledged.
# Report a security issue
Contact: contact@husnainakmal.com
Subject: Security report: husnainakmal.com
Include: affected URL, steps to reproduce, impact
Scope: good-faith testing only; no data destruction or denial of serviceCookies & Browser Storage
I do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Analytics uses the following:
_ga,_ga_<container-id>: Google Analytics first-party cookies that tell visits and returning browsers apart without identifying you personally. They last up to two years.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works normally without them. Pages that embed third-party content, such as a video, may load that provider’s own cookies on those pages only.
Your Rights & Policy Changes
You can ask what personal data I hold about you, request corrections, or ask for it to be deleted by emailing the address below. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the rights granted by the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
I may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top always shows the latest revision.
